And in the meantime,

We

just

can't

stop

murdering

people.

There was a time..

..not too long ago, where my main deal, day in and day out, was recording music. This nugget is indicative of where my head was at in 2003 or so.

Have fun!

During the 1997 Daytime Emmys, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Rogers. The following is an excerpt from Esquire Magazine's coverage of the gala, written by Tom Junod:

Mister Rogers went onstage to accept the award — and there, in front of all the soap opera stars and talk show sinceratrons, in front of all the jutting man-tanned jaws and jutting saltwater bosoms, he made his small bow and said into the microphone, "All of us have special ones who have loved us into being. Would you just take, along with me, ten seconds to think of the people who have helped you become who you are. Ten seconds of silence."
30:24
And then he lifted his wrist, looked at the audience, looked at his watch, and said, 'I'll watch the time." There was, at first, a small whoop from the crowd, a giddy, strangled hiccup of laughter, as people realized that he wasn't kidding, that Mister Rogers was not some convenient eunuch, but rather a man, an authority figure who actually expected them to do what he asked. And so they did. One second, two seconds, seven seconds — and now the jaws clenched, and the bosoms heaved, and the mascara ran, and the tears fell upon the beglittered gathering like rain leaking down a crystal chandelier. And Mister Rogers finally looked up from his watch and said softly, "May God be with you," to all his vanquished children.

Back!

A big thank you to my gracious and generous hosts at Independent Tattoo for inviting me back down this past week..I had a blast.

Not only is their shop the nicest I've ever worked in, it's the nicest I've ever BEEN in. The shop features five artists, all of them talented, genuine, and dedicated. I would (and will) happily get tattooed by everyone there!

I saw many, many smiling faces on the clients. It seemed everyone got much more than they expected, a piece of art that happened to be a tattoo, rather than the typical "stamp".

Emily and James, the newest crew members, deserve special recognition for the way they have been able to "hit the ground running", each of them doing tattoos in their first months that I'd be proud to have done after 14 years in the business. It's humbling, and awesome.

Matt, Tres, and Jay somehow manage to be top-notch artists, surgeons, and businessmen simultaneously. And without a shred of the arrogance that some jerk-offs exude.

Also, thanks to everyone who got tattooed. None of this would be happening without you, and we appreciate it more than it sometimes shows. Hopefully you got the best tattoo of your life, and it will bring you many years of joy.

Now quit pickin' at it!

Please take a moment to check out Dystopolis.
